Carpinteria couldn’t overcome a cold-shooting first half and fell to Thacher, 39-26, in Wednesday’s pool play at the Bishop Diego/Carpinteria girls basketball tournament.
The Warriors scored only six points in the first half and trailed 15-6.
“We couldn’t find our offense,” said Carpinteria coach Dan Mercer.
The Warriors shot better in the second half and scored 19 points. “We had some pretty good looks and we cleaned up the turnovers,” said Mercer.
Tori Kelley scored eight points and had four steals, Monique Sanchez had six points and Maddie Cleek added five points for Carpinteria.
“Even though we lost, I’m encourage by this game,” Mercer said. “We learned a lot about our kids.”
Carpinteria (2-1) plays Cate on Friday.
