Bishop Diego’s girls basketball team lost the free-throw battle on Saturday and lost to Cabrillo 57-39 in the final game of the Bishop Diego/Laguna Blanca Tournament.
The Conquistadores took 38 free throws to Bishop’s 10. Cabrillo ended up outscoring the Cardinals 21-5 at the line.
“We just have to get better defensively,” said Cardinals head coach Jeff Burich, noting how Cabrillo gained an advantage with many offensive rebounds.
Bishop Diego trailed by as few as two points in the second half but had trouble scoring down the stretch.
Jordyn Lilly, an all-tournament selection for the Cardinals, led the team in scoring with 16 points. Hannah Rogers contributed nine.
Bishop Diego is off now until starting the Catalina Tournament on December 26th.
