Santa Barbara High’s boys and girls basketball teams are both ranked second in their respective divisions in the CIF-Southern Section preseason polls.
The Dons boys, who are off to a 6-1 start, are No. 2 behind Chaminade in the 3-A Division. Their lone loss was to Sierra Canyon, the second-ranked 4-A team.

The Santa Barbara girls (7-1) share the second spot in the 3-AA Division with Diamond Ranch. Lakeside is No. 1. The Dons’ only defeat came against Camarillo, the No. 3 team in Division 1-A.
The San Marcos boys, (5-1) CIF semifinalists last season, are ranked sixth in the 3-AA Division. Bishop Diego (4-2) is ninth in 5-AA, St. Joseph is 12th in 4-A and Cabrillo is 15th in the 3-A Division.
In girls basketball rankings, Bishop Diego (4-3) is 13th in the 5-AA Division, St. Joseph is fifth in 4-A and Cabrillo and Lompoc are 13th and 14th, respectively in Division 3-A.
