Brandon Sanchez and Holden Winship scored multiple goals for Santa Barbara High’s boys soccer team on Saturday at the South Torrance Tournament, and the Dons won twice to advance to Monday’s semifinals.
Santa Barbara topped Beverly Hills 6-0 in the Round of 16 before defeating West Torrance 2-0 in the quarterfinals.
Sanchez scored twice against Beverly Hills and then added another in the match with West Torrance.
Winship recorded a goal in each match and assisted on Sanchez’s score in the second game.
Abraham Sierra was another goal-scorer for the Dons on Saturday. He tacked on Santa Barbara’s sixth goal versus Beverly Hills, bringing his tournament-total to five goals.
Santa Barbara (8-1-1) posted its fourth and fifth shutout of the season.
“The two shutouts I’m very happy with, not to mention the eight goals, but it’s the shutouts for me is what stands out,” reported Dons head coach Todd Heil.
The Dons won the South Torrance Tournament in 2009 and 2010, but have been knocked out in the semifinals in 2011 and 2012.
