Dos Pueblos scored two short-handed goals and blanked Golden Valley 3-0 in its first game Saturday at the Hart Soccer Showcase in Valencia.
The Chargers ran into a buzz-saw in their second match, getting routed by Crescenta Valley, 7-0.
Against Golden Valley, DP was leading 1-0 when it was issued a red card early in the first half. The Chargers continued to play well and scored a second goal 26 minutes into the second half. Sophomore Manny Nwosu received the ball from the midfield stripe and ripped a 15-yard shot past the goalkeeper.
Nwosu scored his second shorthanded goal after a long throw-in by Drew Richard. Tim Heiduk flicked the long throw to Nwosu, who trapped the ball, turned and put it away.
Heiduk scored DP’s first goal, heading in a corner kick from Jon Sigurdson.
Dos Pueblos will go into the new year with a 10-2-1 record.
