Manny Nwosu swooped in on a rebound of a Nathan Garcia shot and scored to lift Dos Pueblos to a 1-0 non-league boys soccer win over visiting Santa Paula on Wednesday.
The goal came in the 37th minute, and the Chargers stymied several Santa Paula threats in the second half to win their second game of the young season.
“After having the ball repeatedly in our back third, we were ultimately able to limit the quality shots on frame,” DP coach Matt York said. “We had a scare in the second half when their striker beat our back line and then flipped it over our goalie, Alex Mathews, but Mathews was able to recover and dive to take it off of their striker’s foot, thereby preserving the shutout.”
The Chargers (2-0) head to Paso Robles on Friday and Saturday for the Cats and Hounds tournament.
