Santa Barbara High won two matches by shutout Friday at the Palmdale Tournament to put Todd Heil one win from his milestone 300th as coach of the Dons.
Santa Barbara blanked Quartz Hill and followed that up with a 4-0 win over Bishop Union.
“It’s the first two shutouts for the year and that’s big for us because we focus on shutouts as a program,” said Heil, who is in his 15th season at Santa Barbara.
Jorge Garcia-Torres and William Pritchard scored the goals and Peter Ruiz and Holden Winship provided the assists in the win over Quartz Hill. Ignacio Rendon notched shutout in goal.
Against Bishop Union, Pepe Barron recorded a hat trick after Abraham Sierra opened the scoring. Peter Ruiz had two assists and Robert Soto recorded the clean sheet in goal.
The Dons will try to get Heil is 300th win in the quarterfinals on Saturday morning against Riverside Prep.
