Santa Barbara High’s boys soccer team defeated Rio Mesa on Saturday before falling to Pacifica in the fifth-place game of the Buena Tournament.
The Dons (11-4-1) topped Rio Mesa 2-0, then lost to Pacifica 4-1. The four goals allowed was a season-high for the Dons defense.
“I think playing nine games in nine days since the beginning of the South Torrance Tournament last Friday finally caught up with us,” explained Santa Barbara head coach Todd Heil.
Pepe Barron, Saul Donato and Holden Winship scored goals for the Dons.
Santa Barbara’s next game is this Saturday against the Dons alumni. The team then plays Dos Pueblos on January 7 in the Channel League opener.
