BSoc: Carpinteria posts first shutout

Francisco Arroyo broke a scoreless tie early in the second half, and Carpinteria recorded its first shutout of the season, blanking Rio Mesa, 2-0 on Tuesday.

“Our keeper, Jose Angeles, made three nice saves to keep a clean sheet,” said Carpinteria coach Leo Quintero.

Arroyo scored off an assist from Brandon Landeros. Nine minutes later, Victor Saldana sent in a cross from the right side and Diego Contreras headed it in for a 2-0 lead.

Carpinteria improves to 2-1-0.
