Diego Contreras scored from 30 yards and goalkeeper Lalo Delgado made it stand up, giving Carpinteria a 1-0 win at Royal on Friday.
“Solid defense and a midfield that controlled much of the match is what served key in today’s victory,” said Carpinteria coach Leo Quintero of the win over a Marmonte League opponent.
The Warriors improve to 3-0-1.
The match was scoreless until the 70th minute when Francisco Arroyo served a ball that Contreras trapped between two defenders and ripped a shot that beat the goalkeeper. It was his second straight game with a goal.
Delgado kept a clean sheet with seven saves and Carpinteria posted its second shut out in a row.
