Providence had three players score in double figures but it wasn’t enough as the Patriots fell at Santa Maria Valley Christian Academy, 63-56, on Tuesday night.
Erik Sheets led Providence (1-1) with 19 points and 7 rebounds, Matthew Eaton scored 16 points and Asher Luberto added 13 points.
The Lions jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the opening quarter, but the Patriots found a way to stabilize and finished the quarter down by one at 14-13. The Lions led at half by three, but after three quarters, the Patriots found themselves with a 47-44 lead.
The fourth quarter proved to be the difference in the game as the Patriots offense could not match that of the Lions and were outscored 19-9 in the final period.
