Omar Miranda scored 15 points in the first half and backcourt mate Rayshaun Moore tallied eight points in the third quarter, leading Carpinteria to a season-opening 59-51 basketball win over Hueneme on Tuesday night.
With Miranda taking charge of the scoring, the Warriors built a 35-17 lead at halftime.
Moore picked up the scoring pace in the third quarter to keep Carpinteria comfortably ahead. Hueneme made a charge in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors made their free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Duncan Gordon scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Ian Craddock hauled in 10 boards and added six points.
