The offense finally came alive for the Dos Pueblos basketball team.
Dayne Gardiner led a balanced attack in a 61-44 victory over Agoura at the Kiwanis Tournament in Ventura on Saturday.
“We came out aggressive in the first quarter and put together a really good run to start the game,” DP coach Joe Zamora said. “I was proud of the way we executed against their zone and how we took care of the ball.”
The Chargers jumped out to a 15-1 lead in the first quarter and led 29-12 at halftime. The 61 points is the most they’ve scored in a game this season.
Gardiner scored 11 points and Matt Sessler added 10 to lead the scoring for DP. Jayson Williams had nine points, Erik Olson and Nate Johnson each scored eight points and Eli Wopat and Brandon Burkhardt contributed six points apiece.
“Dayne Gardiner set the tone early for us and Matt Sessler did a good job occupying space in the paint,” said Zamora.
The Chargers (4-8) are back in action on Jan. 2 against Lakewood.
