The scoring struggles continued for the Dos Pueblos boys basketball team on Friday at the Ventura Kiwanis Tournament, as the Chargers fell 40-31 to Oak Park.
Oak Park got some big baskets from Michael Alvarez and offensive putbacks by Matt Byer to build an 18-12 lead at halftime.
“In the second half, turnovers and missed shots allowed Oak Park to build a lead,” DP coach Joe Zamora said “We are learning what it takes to win close games. I am happy with our attitude and effort, we just have to take care of the ball and convert on the offensive end.”
Brandon Burkhardt scored six points to lead DP (3-8) in scoring. Five other players scored four points. Alvarez had 16 and Byer 10 for Oak Park (7-6).
Dos Pueblos plays Agoura on Saturday.
