Dos Pueblos broke into the win column with a 56-40 decision over Santa Clara on Wednesday at the Ventura County Classic basketball tournament.
Dayne Gardiner scored 16 points to lead three Chargers in double figures. Brandon Burkhardt tossed in 14 points and Nathan Johnson hit some clutch shots and scored 12 points. Erik Olson turned in a strong game and freshman Anthony Trujillo and Marcellus Gossett “gave tremendous contributions off the bench,” said DP coach Joe Zamora.
Dos Pueblos (1-3) returns to the tournament on Thursday.
