Dos Pueblos couldn’t convert down the stretch and came up short against a talented Camarillo team, 71-60, in a non-league basketball game Monday night on the road.
Dayne Gardiner scored 15 points to lead the Chargers (0-2), while freshman Anthony Trujillo, Brandon Burkhardt and Erik Olson each tallied eight points.
Jacob Alonzo, Camarillo’s standout guard, led all scorers with 18 points.
Dos Pueblos stayed close to the Scorpions for most of the game.
“The game came down to the last three minutes of the 4th quarter,” DP coach Joe Zamora said. “Camarillo got some big offensive rebounds and DP wasn’t able to convert on its offensive end of the court. It was a good learning experience for the team.”
The Chargers are back in action Tuesday against Chatsworth in the Moorpark Tournament.
