Westmont ran into a hot-shooting Westminster team and dropped a women’s basketball, 84-53, on Thursday night in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Westminster shot 53 percent in the first half and opened up a 44-24 advantage. It finished the game shooting 53 percent (34 of 64) to Westmont’s 37 percent (19-49).
The defending NAIA champions never led in the game. Kelsie Sampson scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Warriors (1-1).
Westminster (2-0) had four players score in double figures, led by Shelby Ellsworth with 18 points.
