TEN: Corona del Mar stops SB in quarters

Corona del Mar advanced into the CIF-ss Girls Tennis semifinals after an 11-7 victory over visiting Santa Barbara in Monday’s Division 1 quarterfinal.

The Sea Queens dominated doubles, winning 7-of-9 sets, to gain the upper hand. CDM won the close matches, taking three doubles points in sets won 7-5, 7-5, and 7-6.

Santa Barbara’s No. 1 singles player Mattea Kilstofte swept her three sets while No. 2 Madison Hale won two of three. Both Hale and Kilstofte are juniors.  It was the final match for seniors Megan Grant, Lisa Santry, Kelli Martindale, Hailey deBoer, Karina Thornton, and Gabrielle Goss.

Santry and Grant claimed Santa Barbara’s two wins in doubles.

The Channel League champion Dons finish their season with a 14-4 record.
