SBCC?s Brandie Harris, the top goal-scorer in Southern California, has been chosen WSC North Player of the Year in women?s soccer.
The 5-7 sophomore forward from Dos Pueblos High had a hat trick in the first half last Friday and finished the regular season with a school-record 29 goals. Harris had five hat tricks and 61 points as the Vaqueros (12-5-2, 8-2-2) finished third in the WSC North and earned a trip to the Southern Cal Regional.
The Vaqueros won both the men?s and women?s Player of the Year awards with Adam Colton being honored for the men. It?s the second time in three years that Santa Barbara has received both honors.
SBCC?s women won eight of its last 10 games to make the playoffs for the fourth straight year. The Vaqueros will play on either Thursday or Saturday and the pairings will be announced on Tuesday.
Sophomore forward Briana Lopez (8 goals, 2 assists) was a first-team all-conference selection, along with Heather Rivera and Emelie Netteberg. Jackie Holmer made the second team and Shirley Benitez and Sonja Gustavsson were honorable mention.
