Jamie Sporcic collected three second-half goals — including the game-winner with 1:06 to play -— and two assists on Tuesday, leading SBCC to a wild 5-4 men’s soccer victory over Citrus in Glendora.
The Vaqueros took a 4-2 lead on goals by Sporcic in the 49th and 52nd minutes and another from Liron Cohen in the 72nd minute with Sporcic providing the assist. Citrus tied it up with scores in the 81st and 85th minutes.
Sporcic got the game-winner with 25 yards out with 66 seconds left after a nice pass from Vicente Perez. The second-place Vaqueros improved to 9-7 overall and 9-5 in WSC play. Citrus is 6-11 and 5-8.
It was the first career hat trick for Sporcic, a sophomore midfielder from Birmingham, England. He leads the Vaqueros with 10 goals and 24 points. The Vaqueros struck first with Barnaby Hitchcock scoring in the 21st minute on an assist by Sporcic. Citrus took a 2-1 halftime lead on goals in the 27th and 43rd minutes.
SBCC travels to Santa Monica on Friday for a 1 p.m. game.
