Providence was swept by Frontier League champion Nordhoff in a first-round match of the CIF Division 4-A girls volleyball playoffs on Tuesday night.
Nordhoff won by scores of 25-17, 25-11, 25-21.
Freshman Abby Oppenhuizen led the Patriots with six kills and 10 digs. Senior libero Olivia Barroca passed well and played scrappy defense, coach Laura Newton said. “Livi was a dominant and consistent force for us in the back row the whole game. We will miss her immensely next year.”
Providence finished the season with an 11-8 record.
It was the final match for six seniors: Jackie Gonzalez, Jenna Wilcox, Keila Mazariegos, Hannah Park, Olivia Johnson, and Barroca.
“These girls have helped build the volleyball program at Providence from the ground level. I appreciate the time and energy these girls have given to the team over the last four years,” said Newton.
