Laguna Blanca’s girls volleyball team bested Vistamar on Saturday 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 to earn a spot in the Southern Section’s Division 4-A CIF semifinal.
The top-seeded Owls will face Crossroads on Tuesday for a chance to play in Saturday’s championship. Cate and Pacifica Christian meet in the other semifinal.
“The Owls are peaking right now,” reported Laguna Blanca head coach Jim Alzina. “Our passing and defense are really strong and it’s allowing us to set a well balanced attack in the front row.”
Phoebe Madsen, Grace Woolf and Hannah White led the hitting attack, combining for 30 kills. Olivia Pickett recorded nine digs while Clara Madsen totaled eight digs and 39 assists.
It’s the second-straight year that Laguna Blanca has made the CIF semifinals.
“I’m very proud of our senior leadership,” Alzina said. “They are setting a great tone for the rest of the team.”
