Santa Barbara High’s girls soccer team opened the season on a winning note, hanging on to beat Camarillo, 4-3.
Maisie Zimmerman scored twice off of corner kicks and Danielle Smith and Paige Lambert tallied goals for the Dons. Hannah Brisby had three assists.
Santa Barbara center back Abigail Guillen suffered an injury, leaving the Dons with 10 players for the last 10 minutes of the match. Camarillo capitalized with two goals but it couldn’t get a third to tie the score.
“Overall, it was a good performance and we were proud of how the girls played tonight considering we are missing many players due to injury and club ties,” Santa Barbara coach Jeff Johnson said. “We look forward to a great season.”
