The big showdown in small schools girls volleyball is set for Wednesday as No. 1 Cate travels to No. 2 Laguna Blanca.
The match begins at 5:30 p.m.
The two teams held their positions in the latest CIF Division 4-A poll. Cate (13-1, 7-0) beat the Owls (13-2, 6-1) in their first league meeting. Wednesday’s winner will be the Condor League champion and the No. 1 seed in the division when the playoff pairings are released on Saturday.
In boys water polo, Dos Pueblos remained third in Division 2 after winning five games last week and finishing third in a tournament. The Chargers beat Buena and San Marcos in Channel League and won five of six games at the Pal Memorial tournament. Their lone loss was in sudden death overtime against Division 1 9th-ranked Servite. Agoura is No. 1 and Murrieta Valley No. 2 in the Division 2 poll. Ventura is ranked seventh.
The Dos Pueblos boys cross country team will enter its final Channel League meet on Thursday as the top-ranked team in Division 2. The Chargers won the Santa Barbara County Championship last week. San Marcos, which finished second at the county meet, is ranked 11th in Division 3. Cate is 11th in Division 5.
The Dos Pueblos girls are ranked 12th in Division 2.
