Bishop Diego has suffered back-to-back losses against Tri-Valley League opponents and highly ranked CIF Northwest Division teams Oak Park and Nordhoff.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Cardinals in their regular season finale on Friday night. They play host to San Luis Obispo Mission Prep, which happens to be the top-ranked team in the CIF Northeast Division. The Monarchs have won eight in a row after losing their season opener.
Bishop Diego (7-2), dropped to No. 3 in this week’s Northwest Division poll. Oak Park (8-1) and Nordhoff (8-1) hold down the top two spots, while Carpinteria (7-2) comes in at No. 7. The Warriors play host to Oak Park on Friday night.
Lompoc (8-1) sits behind three Mission League teams in the Western Division poll. Ventura moved into the No. 10 spot after its 31-0 shutout of Buena.
