Dos Pueblos controlled the midfield and got goals from three different players to win 3-0 at Newbury Park in a boys soccer season opener on Tuesday.
Sophomores Jessie Jimenez and Manny Nwosu scored first-half goals and junior Jonathan Garcia beat the goalkeeper with a right-footed blast in the second half.
“We really didn’t know how some of our new boys were going to stand up to the adversity of an away match but they played admirably,” DP coach Matt York said. “We were led tonight by our solid midfield play which allowed us to really limit the Panthers shot attempts.”
Jimenez put DP ahead 1-0 in the 15th minute. Nwosu scored off a great individual effort in the 31st minute and Garcia finished the scoring.
The Chargers play host to Santa Paula on Wednesday.
