Noah Burke and Jack Baker combined for 17 points in the first quarter as Santa Barbara roared out to a 29-7 lead en route to an 84-28 season-opening basketball win at Channel Islands on Friday night.
Burke scored 10 of his 14 points in the quarter. Baker finished with 15 points in a balanced scoresheet for the Dons. Sophomore forward Ben Clay recorded a double-double in his varsity debut. He finished with a game-high 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Assistant coach Andy Gil cited the passing of Isaiah Tapia and the play of Andrew Fay, Bolden Brace and Chris Wagonhurst.
