Jenna Anderson and Madison Waddell had 14 kills apiece on Friday night, leading SBCC to a 3-1 women’s volleyball win over Cuesta in a WSC North opener at San Luis Obispo. The scores were 26-24, 23-25, 25-14, 25-16.
Jasmine Ward added 12 kills for the defending WSC champion Vaqueros (7-6, 1-0), who are ranked No. 7 in the state. Cuesta fell to 6-4 and 0-1.
The Vaqueros have been strong on the road this year with a 7-2 record.
Coach Ed Gover used two setters — Ari Garner and Madelon Leiphardt — and they helped the Vaqueros to a .317 hitting percentage.
SBCC hosts L.A. Pierce on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
