Brandie Harris racked up five goals and an assist on Friday, leading the SBCC women’s soccer team to a 7-0 victory at Oxnard.
“Brandie was on fire and looked like she would score every time she touched it,” said Vaquero coach John Sisterson. “Briana Lopez played a very unselfish game, easily her best at SBCC.”
Lopez had a goal and two assists for the Vaqueros (9-3-2, 5-0-2), who moved into first place in the WSC North, one point ahead of L.A. Pierce (5-0-1). The Vaqueros, ranked No. 6 in Southern Cal, have won their last five games by a combined 20-3.
Harris, a sophomore from Dos Pueblos High, has 12 goals in her last four games and 21 for the season. She’s No. 2 in Southern Cal and No. 5 in the state with 44 points.
She scored in the 24th and 35th minutes to give the Vaqueros a 3-0 lead with Lauren Dickson assisting on both goals. Chiara Kehl notched the second goal in the 27th minute on an assist from Harris.
Harris got her fourth hat trick of the year in the 52nd minute on an assist from Lopez. Harris made it 5-0 in the 61st minute by smacking the ball in after a nice looping pass from Tavara Zachert-Johnson.
Lopez made a penalty kick in the 65th minute and Harris completed the scoring seven minutes later on a sharp assist from Lopez.
SBCC is 5-0 on its current seven-game road trip. The Vaqueros travel to L.A. Pierce for a first-place showdown on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
