Lauren Dickson scored in the 23rd minute off a corner kick by Sam Maxwell on Friday afternoon and SBCC went on to blank Cuesta 1-0 in a WSC women’s soccer match in San Luis Obispo.
It was the fifth goal of the year for Dickson, who has scored in two straight games. Goalie Brianna Robinson and the defense posted their third shutout.
The Vaqueros improved to 5-3-2 and 2-0-2 in conference while the Cougars fell to 3-7 and 1-2.
“We created a lot of chances but just couldn’t put them away,” said coach John Sisterson. “The score was 1-0 but it wasn’t really that close. We felt comfortable all game and could have scored four or five goals.”
The Vaqueros play at first-place Ventura on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
