SBCC has two American Pacific Conference Players of the Week, following its 18-16 football victory at Antelope Valley on Saturday.
Morgan Nevin was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year. The 6-1 sophomore linebacker from Truckee, Calif., had 13 tackles, including five solo, 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He leads the state in tackles per game at 14.2.
Marcus Hoerberg, a sophomore kicker from Sollentana, Sweden, was named Special Teams Player of the Week. He booted field goals of 44, 47 and 43 yards in the final 5:48 of the second quarter, helping the unbeaten Vaqueros to their sixth straight win.
The 47-yarder was a career best for Hoerberg.
SBCC (6-0, 3-0 APC) moved up to No. 20 in this week?s state poll. The Vaqueros will travel to No. 24 L.A. Pierce (5-1, 3-0) for a first-place showdown on Saturday at 7 p.m.
