Providence kept its CIF girls volleyball playoff hopes alive with a five-set win over Thacher on Saturday. The scores were 25-19, 25-21, 14-25, 15-25 15-8.
Hannah Park came up big in the fifth set, recording three of her six kills to help the Patriots improve to 2-4 in the Condor League and 10-6 overall.
“The girls were aware that a win against Thacher was a crucial win to keep the playoffs a possibility and they responded very well,” said Providence coach Laura Newton.
Freshman Abby Oppenhuizen played a key role for the Patriots. With junior middle blocker Ozie LeSage, absent from the game, Oppenhuizen moved from outside hitter to a middle blocker and played well. She finished with 7 kills and 7 digs.
Senior Olivia Barroca added 19 digs and 4 aces. Maddy Niessen contributed 12 assists and her sister, Cody Niessen, pitched in 10 assists and 9 digs.
Providence has the biggest game of their season this Tuesday at Dunn.
