The Providence Patriots lost in a very close fight to Dunn last night. 5 games. 27-25, 21-25, 25-16, 16-25, 17-19.
Providence and Dunn went down to the wire in a battle for third place in the Condor League on Tuesday night in Los Olivos. Dunn pulled out the win, 25-27, 25-21, 16-25 25-16, 19-17.
“It was a tough loss for us but I am very proud of the way that the girls fought hard in their attempt to win the game,” said Providence coach Laura Newton.
Newton said senior Olivia Johnson had her best offensive game of the night with 11 kills. She also added 8 digs and 4 aces. Maddy Niessen had 11 kills, 15 assists, 20 digs and very strong serving. Ozie LeSage had 10 kills, 16 digs and 5 blocks. Cody Niessen added 23 assists and 15 digs.
Senior Olivia Barroca played a solid back row and picked up 21 digs in the match in loud gym.
“Olivia has experience with big games, packed crowds and lots of pressure. Her composure kept the girls fighting hard every game,” said Newton.
Providence is now 10-7 overall and 2-5 in league.
