A slow start by Dos Pueblos proved costly as the Chargers dropped a five-set volleyball match to Ventura in Channel League play on Thursday night.
The Cougars won by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-12.
Dos Pueblos hit just .091 in the first set.
“We came out slow in game one,” DP coach Todd Garrett said. “We need to figure out how to be ready to play the first point.”
McKenna Goss led the Chargers (3-8, 2-2) with 26 kills, while Hillary Bean and Natalie Klapp had 10 kills apiece. Cha Cha Fisher picked up 12 digs.
“Cha Cha did a great job digging and Hillary Bean’s 10 kills on the right were a huge help. We got good serving from everyone, including Katie Issaris. I was proud of our passing, digging and serving tonight. We struggled with our block,” said Garrett.
