Setters Ellen Lempres and Brenna Geiger had Cate’s offense running on all cylinders in a sweep over Providence on Wednesday.
The CIF-SS 4-A Division No. 1-ranked Rams rolled to 25-8, 25-19, 25-8 sweep in the Condor League match.
“Ellen and Brenna did a great job spreading the ball around and making things happen tonight,” Cate coach Greg Novak said.
Cydney Pierce had eight kills with only one hitting error, while Peyton Shelburne added seven kills.
“Overall, we did a real good job running plays and running the middles,” Novak said.
Ozie LeSage had 3 kills, 6 digs and 2 blocks to lead Providence. Olivia Barroca led the Patriots defensively with 12 digs.
“I felt that the girls played hard, and gave it their best effort, but Cate is a very good team, and showed why they are ranked No. 1 in our division,” Providence assistant coach Dale Colburn said. “We had a hard time matching their consistency. We would play well in stretches, but could not sustain that level of play for an entire game.
Cate improves to 9-1 and 5-0 in the Condor League.
