GTen: Dons edged by No. 3 Campbell Hall

Santa Barbara High came up short in the final round and fell to third-ranked Campbell Hall in a CIF Division 1 girls top-10 tennis battle at the Dons’ courts.

“The match was close the entire way and was not decided until midway through the final round,” said Santa Barbara coach Greg Tebbe, whose team is ranked No. 7.

Santa Barbara is 8-2 and Campbell Hall is 5-1.

The Dons were led by Mattea Kilstofte who went 2-1 on the day and the doubles team of Karina Thornton and Lexy Gulden who also won two out of three points.

“I was proud of the way our girls competed today. It gives us confidence to know that we are neck and neck with such a highly ranked team. Today was a good learning experience and will definitely help us to improve,” said Tebbe.

Santa Barbara returns to league play Tuesday at Ventura.
