Freshman MacKenzie McBride shot a career-best 43 and Melissa Jewkes earned medalist honors with a 40 as San Marcos defeated Ventura 219-231 in a Channel League girls golf match at Buenaventura Golf Course.
“I am extremely proud of freshman MacKenzie McBride,” San Marcos coach Sarah Ashton said. “She continues to improve and drop strokes each week and it’s fun to see her really enjoying the game.”
The 219 score by the Royals is one of the lowest in program history.
“We played five great rounds of golf today and put in another strong team effort to win,” said Ashton.
The Royals (11-2, 5-2) close out the regular season against Santa Barbara at Birnam Wood on Thursday.
