SBCC’s Fanny Johansson captured medalist honors at WSC No. 4 on a cold and rainy Wednesday at San Dimas Canyon Golf Club. The freshman from Sweden shot 4-over 76 and teammates Vanesa Villa and Maggie Daly tied for second at 80.
Play was halted after nine holes due to rain and lightning and the players’ scores were doubled.
The Vaqueros (45-3, 16-0) totaled 322 strokes to beat Canyons by 20.
“I was a little worried because several of our girls were sick but the rest of the team came through,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “It was a tough, cold day with wind and rain.“
The Vaqueros will host WSC No. 5 on Monday at Santa Barbara GC, starting at 10:30 a.m.
