Nic Pajouh rushed for three touchdowns, and Cate held off a furious Dunn rally to win 50-32 in a Condor League 8-man football game on Saurday in Los Olivos.
The Rams built a 36-6 lead in the third quarter, but Dunn cut the margin to 36-26 with five minutes left in the game.
Cate regrouped and got touchdown runs of 17 and 22 yards by Pajouh to put the game away.
“He was our rock,” Cate assistant coach Dave Soto said. “Whenever we needed a big carry, he was the guy. He showed great senior leadership.”
Soto also cited the play of senior Abraham Tall. He put the Rams on the scoreboard with a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Michael Nettesheim on a broken play.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Rams scored two touchdowns in the second quarter and led 36-14 after the third quarter. Max Vasquez had 2-yard TD run, Oliver Welch kicked a 30-yard field goal, Isiah Washington caught an 18-yard scoring strike from Nettesheim and Dean Smith broke off a 65-yard run.
John Basar led the Cate defense with two interceptions.
Cate improves to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the Condor League.
