Bishop Diego’s Matt Hammond ran a personal best of 18:35 over the hilly, twisty Oak Canyon Park Course at the TCAA Cross Country Meet.
The meet featured 12 teams from the Tri-Valley and Frontier Leagues.
“I just tried to run a controlled race on this tough course,” said Hammond after the race. “We haven’t seen this course before and it demanded lots of attention.”
Hammond was trailed by sophomore Luca Jordano who finished with a time just above 23 minutes. Also finishing well for the Cardinals were juniors Jack Kelly and Quinn Scott, and freshman Miguel Gonsalez.
On the girls side, the top finishers for the Cardinals were Clarissa Davis and Lizzy Verduzco.
