The 17th-ranked Westmont women’s team finished sixth in a field of 16 in the 6,000-meter race at the UC Riverside Invitational. The race included NCAA Division I, II and III teams.
The women’s top-five finishers consisted of three freshmen and two sophomores. Freshman Kelly Collins finished first for the Warriors, placing 14th in a time of 21:28.4. Sophomore Jessica Meyers notched 19th place in a time of 21:36.7. Sophomore Piper Bian grabbed 34th place with a time of 22.19.5 while freshman Haley Alexander came in 63rd in 22:58.5. Freshman Terri Baker completed the scoring for the Warriors by finishing 68th in a time of 23:01.5.
In the men’s 8,000 meter invitational race, the Westmont men’s team finished 14 out of 23 (408 points) and was the second of four NAIA Teams. No. 9 Cal State San Marcos, placed seventh with 219 points. Vanguard, ranked at #21, was 15th with 433 points while Biola was eighteenth with 462 points.
Senior Evan Bradford was Westmont’s first finisher, placing 31st in a time of 25:22.3. Sophomore Nathan Evans claimed 71st place with a time of 26:04.4 while sophomore Evan Kramer came in 104th in a time of 26:30.4. Junior Daniel Erickson posted a time of 26:42.7 to take 117th place and senior Jack Rogan placed 130th in a time of 26:59.5
The Warriors will compete again next Saturday at the Mustang Invitational at The Master’s College in Santa Clarita.
