Once it got over the first-set jitters, San Marcos got down to business and beat Hart, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-16, in a very hot gym on Friday night.
“Our first game we struggled with our ball control and hitting,” Royals coach Erica Menzel said. “As soon as we relaxed and gained composure, we played a lot batter.”
Carly Yarnell led the Royals with 14 kills and Chloe Allen added 11.
Menzel said the temperature was 103 degrees when the arrived at Hart.
San Marcos is on the road against Tuesday at Royal in Simi Valley.
