Providence ran its unbeaten streak to six matches with a tough four-set win over Orcutt Academy on Saturday. The set scores were 25-17, 11-25, 25-23, 25-15.
“We had to fight hard against a very scrappy and consistent Orcutt squad,” said Providence coach Laura Newton.
Providence was led by junior, Ozie LeSage in the middle with 9 kills, 7 digs and 3 blocks. Maddy Niessen added 7 kills, 10 assists, and 6 digs. Cody Niessen contributed 18 assists. Freshman, Abby Oppenhuizen had the best game of her young career with 6 kills and 13 digs.
“Abby’s impressive defensive saves helped fire the team up again after a tough second game,” said Newton. “Although we struggled in the second game, the girls were able to bounce back and have an enjoyable victory in front of a large crowd at Westmont College.”
Providence travels to Oxnard to play Channel Islands on Tuesday and then plays Laguna Blanca on Saturday.
