Cate ran up against a hard-hitting, diverse attack from Viewpoint and dropped at 25-19, 25-22, 25-13 non-league girls volleyball match on Saturday in Calabasas.
“This was our third meeting against them (the teams played twice in the Laguna Blanca Tournament) and we hoped to play better,” Cate coach Greg Novak said. “Unfortunately, a comedy of errors and their swings did us in.”
The score was tied 22-all in the second set, but Viewpoint went on a three-point run to win the set.
“If we had gotten a game off them, we might have surprised them,” said Novak.
Peyton Shelburne led the Rams witn 14 kills, while freshman Delaney Mayfield and Cydney Pierce added 11 kills each.
The Rams (2-1) play host to Nordhoff on Wednesday.
