Carpinteria posted a huge girls tennis win on Saturday, beating San Luis Obispo 11-7 in a non-league match.
“For the most part we played a sound match,” said Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant. “We had a few hiccups here and there but definitely played well against a strong team.”
In singles, Kelsie Bryant and Kassandra Ni went 3-0 and Odessa Stork went 2-1 and lost a tough tiebreak to SLO’s No. 1 player.
The doubles teams played some of their best sets of the year, Bryant said.
“We showed good progress in some of the areas we have been working on and hopefully we can continue to build on those,” he said.
Makenna Pike-Emily Saito went 2-1 and won a first-round match in a tiebreak that ended up giving Carpinteria a 5-1 advantage after the first round.
Natalie Saito/Gabi Montes De Oca won the remaining set.
Carpinteria is now 4-1 overall.
