The San Marcos girls tennis team went 2-1 in matches at the California Tennis Classic in Clovis on Friday.
The Royals, playing in Division 5, defeated El Diamante 4-2 and Tehachapi 6-0. Their lone loss was against Central High of Fresno 0n total games, 58-57. The teams tied 3-3 on sets.
The doubles team of Amber Rowley and Alexis Flores won all three of their sets and Aanavi Karandikar and Olivia Sturman went 2-0. In singles, Renee Handley went 2-1 and Kinsley Shinn posted a 2-0 record.
The tournament continues on Saturday.
The Royals have a new coach in Fred Hartzman. He is a San Marcos alum and a local tennis instructor.
