Bishop Diego won its first girls tennis match of the year, beating Villanova on total games, 80-71, after the teams played to a 9-9 tie in sets on Thursday.
Meredith Amspoker went 3-0 in her singles sets, including a come-from-behind 6-4 win over Villanova’s No. 1 player Seaphina Arce. Amspoker trailed 3 games to none. Emilee Krabin also won her three sets at No. 2 singles.
Sierra Faoro was a difference maker for the Cardinals. She went 1-2, but one of defeats went to a tiebreaker.
