Setter Brenna Geiger made a triumphant return to the Cate volleyball lineup and helped the Rams sweep Malibu, 25-15, 25-23, 25-17, in the season opener for both teams on Wednesday.
Geiger returned after suffering a back injury two years ago. She and Ellen Lempres combined to set a diversified attack.
“We did a good job spreading the ball around,” said coach Greg Novak.
Peyton Shelburne led the Rams with 11 kills, Tamsyn Walker added six and three other players had five kills apiece.
Cate is back in action at the Laguna Blanca Tournament on Saturday.
