RIVERSIDE — UCSB’s cross country teams both came in first place at the Riverside Invitational Saturday morning. The women ran a 6k on the UCR Agricultural Operations Course while the men followed with an 8k.
Dani Moreno and Christine Cooperstein, finished 1-2 for the women with times of 20:23.5 and 20:47.6. The Gauchos scored 31 points, beating out Nike Team Run LA’s 51 and UC Riverside’s 81. Sophomore Maxine Goyette finished sixth with a time of 21:02.7 and Jessica Chadwick came in ninth in 21:20.1.
For the men, three top-10 finishers gave UCSB a team score of 54, beating out Southern Utah’s second place score of 79. Anthony Ortolan finished fourth with a 8k time of 24:24.8, Bryce Rausa came in fifth in 24:35.8, and Andrew Farkas finished with a time of 24:37.9, good for sixth place.
The win gives the Santa Barbara men their second straight victory in the Riverside Invitational.
Central Arizona’s Harry Mulenga was the first runner to cross the finish line in Riverside, running a 23:45.1.
