Santa Barbara High made a triumphant return to the refurbished J.R. Richards, sweeping Royal, 25-10, 25-19, 25-14.
“This was the first event in the new, refurbished gym,” Santa Barbara coach John Gannon said. “It was great to kick off the era of the new J.R. Richards Gym on the right foot.”
Lexi Rottman set the tone for the match with five service aces. The attack was balanced with Lourda Weger leading the way with six kills and Jackie Starnes and Tessa Dewell adding five apiece.
The Dons (2-0) return to action on Tuesday with a home match against Thousand Oaks.
